The prosthetic strategies for a successful esthetic and functional rehabilitation
The presentation will discuss the fundamentals required to accomplish a pleasing, functional and long lasting esthetic outcome: treatment plan, team collaboration, understanding of the patient's needs and selection of the restorative materials. Properly addressing such factors as adequate preoperative esthetic and functional analysis, correct data transmission to the laboratory regarding the occlusal plane orientation and inclination, and definition of an appropriate incisal edge position will facilitate the achievement of a predictable and successful prosthetic rehabilitation. Today technology validly supports the clinician: for example, the use of some specific Apps such as GETApp (Guided Esthetic Treatment) that collect and process digitally all the necessary data considerably simplify the work of the dentist.
A close collaboration is needed between the surgeon and the restorative dentist both for treating natural dentition or dental implants, especially in the anterior area in challenging clinical situations such as patients with a high smile line.
Material selection plays also a fundamental role in management of complex rehabilitation cases: this presentation will illustrate how to select metal-free ceramic materials and how to implement their use even in full-mouth rehabilitations.
Nowadays an innovative operative protocol allows to face highly compromised clinical situations, with a minimally invasive prosthetic procedure (MIPP) that – thanks also to the VDO modification - guarantees an excellent, long lasting esthetic result and a better acceptance of the treatment by the patient. This procedure permits to re-establish an ideal occlusal relationship and to avoid additional endodontic or surgical steps that were traditionally necessary in order to improve the retention of the restorations.
